Like saying 'thank you' to water
Column: Our Place in the Universe
My friends and I were sitting in the local supermarket — the kind with the small cafe area built in that encourages you to sip lattes and sample sushi as well as shop. The conversation's purpose usually has a spiritual dimension, since these women, in their own unique ways, want to have an impact on, and support the shifting consciousness of our era.
Today was no different. We began by talking about the lecture we had heard the day before, given by Dr. Masaru Emoto. Dr. Emoto is the chief of the Hado Institute in Tokyo. The meaning of the Japanese word hado, according to Dr. Emoto, is "the intrinsic vibrational pattern at the atomic level in all matter. The smallest unit of energy. Its basis is the energy of human consciousness."
What Dr. Emoto has done has been to determine a way to measure the effect of human consciousness on matter, using water as a medium. Water is a reflector, a mirror, projecting our thoughts, words and vibrations back to us. By taking a photo of the water crystal before and after it is acted on, by word, thought, or picture, the change in the physical reality of the crystal can be recorded.
In the same samples of water, the water appears to "change its expression," or vibration pattern, to form exceedingly beautiful crystals with exposure to words such as love, thank you and gratitude. Water exposed to negative influence tends not to form crystals at all.
This may be an amazing discovery, considering that we ourselves, as well as our planet, are made up largely of water. In fact, what Dr. Emoto has discovered is not new at all. It has been known for generations that a positive attitude helps in the healing of disease and the creation of peacefulness. When we focus our consciousness intentionally, great change can occur.
"In the beginning was the Word ... " According to Dr. Emoto, "Words are the vibrations of nature. Therefore beautiful words create beautiful nature. Ugly words create ugly nature. This is the root of the universe." Prayer and meditation often have been used in this regard. Prayer may shape the intention that drives and forms the purpose of our lives. Prayer was also recorded as having a healthful, beautifying effect on water.
When we concentrate our consciousness with the same intention, as a group or community, a healing vibration can be generated powerful enough to effect change on a larger scale. At this point, one of the women with a 5-year-old son asked another if she thought that her teenage son would have benefited by being part of some organized religion. "It's difficult to know," she replied. "But his football coach encourages them to participate in a Christian mentality to promote positive change and teamwork."
Another woman, with no children, suggested that the mother of the 5-year-old expose him to many different world religions, celebrations and cultures, so that he could make up his own mind when he got older. Since I was the one with the oldest child, I took my time to think through what I had done, and what had influenced my daughter. The first thing I noted was the impact our community made on her. She definitely benefited from being part of a group of like-hearted teenagers.
I'm careful not to say like-minded, because some of these teenagers did not go the "way" of the community. The community's truth was not accepted by some of them. Even so, these kids had known each other since they were young; had been through tough times and joy-filled times, and still felt that bond of heart that deepened over the years despite some falling away of faith or belief. My daughter recognizes, too, how important that was, and is, in her development.
The other thing that I noted about how I raised my daughter was how important a personal relationship with God, the Creator, the Heart of the Universe, is. Without being able to feel a connection to the Center, how is it possible to understand our own specialness? How can we believe in the gifts within ourselves that the Universe has given us, that are unique in all the cosmos, without that one point of reference — that I, myself, am loved for ME?
It is this parent/child relationship that allows humankind to be aware of the rest of creation. The love, the inheritance of the Father, the Great Mother, the vast Oneness, flows in our veins, is the root of our being. It is only when we vibrate in harmony with that Oneness that we are truly alive and connected to the truth that is in all peoples, all beings, all life. It is only when we all become conscious of this fact that we will notice the Garden of Eden we are living in, and the beauty of the shape of our lives.
