Follow the signs for Valentine's Day

Column: Outing the Goddess Within
With Valentine's Day snapping upon our heels, I've learned that there are three types of gift shoppers.

There is the Squirrel type, who buys her bits here and there and methodically accumulates her gifts throughout the year ready for the rainy day.

Then there's the Tasmanian Devil type, who races into the stores the day before the big event and shops up a storm. She's also the type who, when shopping online, chooses her gifts based on whether they can be shipped in time.

And finally, there's the Re-gifter. She's the one who wraps up last year's gifts and gifts them to someone else. We won't go into all the reasons why this is so wrong right now, but there are hundreds of tragic (and hilarious) stories about this sub-culture at Regiftable.com.

As for the blokes, don't get me started. Some are great (and that's why there is such a thing as a species known as the "married man"), but others could do with a bit of a hand in the gift-giving department.

Boys, it's simple. We modern gals are goddesses. We deserve "wonderful" because we are wonderful. We warrant "the best" because we are the best. We like to spoil you rotten because we are ... oh, never mind.

So when you go shopping, think "wonderful." Think, "the best." And, think about your recipient and what her "recipient type" is. Your girlfriend's reaction to your gift will depend on her goddess birth sign* - the archetypal goddess energy that prevailed at the time of her birth. (Similar to astrology, goddess birth signs define who you are, what your life purpose may be and what kind of gifts you like to receive.)

Once you know your friend's Goddess Birth Sign, you can follow this guide to gift-giving to find the perfect solution that will connect at a heart-felt level with her character.
