Goddess Birth Signs - What's yours?

Column: Outing the Goddess Within
There is something magical about looking to the night skies and seeing a million stories and portraits painted with a palette of shining stars. In fact, ever since the shepherds and sailors began telling fortunes and futures based on what they could see in the stars, we have been fascinated by the myriad of stories cradled within this cascade of celestial orbs.

Over time, the art of seeing our destiny in the stars became more of a science. Astrology was subsequently born circa 1375 and became known as the study of interpreting the influence of the heavenly bodies on human affairs.

Pre-dating astrology, however, are the ancient gods and goddesses of all time. Each culture had its own divine being or pantheon of deities, yet they all transcended earthly borders and time with common attributes: security, creation, power, benevolence, judiciousness, wisdom and divinity.

And each deity's energy was more evident at certain times of the year, season or moon cycle than at other times. Goddesses of grain, for example, were at the forefront of people's focus during times of planting and harvest. Moon goddesses were revered at full moons, fertility goddesses were celebrated during springtime and in the height of summer, and other-world goddesses were honored when a loved one passed over.

It is from these energies that the Goddess Birth Signs are derived.

Just like astrology, goddess energy defines who we are and what our life purpose may be. The alignment of stars and planets influences our personalities, values and choices. Every action, thought, projection of self, and treatment of others is a reflection of your goddess sign.

If you react to a boyfriend's indiscretions by punishing the other woman, for example, you are displaying Juno energies — she went to extraordinary lengths to avenge her husband's concubines. Or if you like to lie low and stay out of trouble, your ruling goddess is probably Hestia — she only wants an uncomplicated, enriching and contented life. Or, if you're a natural lover, there's every chance you've been born under the influence of Venus — Venus-inspired women can't help swinging those hips or fluttering those eyelashes; their energy is impossible to resist.

Of course, we are affected by different goddess energies at different times of the day, year and even moon cycle. But at our core, our goddess sign defines how we manage our choices and destinies. No matter what the situation, understanding your goddess sign is one way to ensure you get through each day smiling.

I have listed the 12 Goddess Birth Signs here, at GoddessBirthSigns.com for you to peruse at your leisure. As always, feedback via my blog is always welcome :-)
