What We Can Learn From Our Children
Column: Spiritual Parenting
Today’s children are being born with innate gifts and understanding gained through their parents spiritual work. These children are coming into the world with a deep desire to share their wisdom and uplift humanity. Our children have so much to teach us if we get quiet enough to listen. 12 year old Aja King is one of these special teachers. When Aja was 10 years old she became an award winning author of her book, Three Grin Salad. The innocent wisdom of Three Grin Salad beams with joy as Aja guides other children to living a healthy and happy life. Filled to the brim with helpful strategies for creating a healthy mind, body and spirit, children will immediately resonate with this book because it is written by a child. Truly a delight to read and will greatly enhance the lives of children everywhere. Aja's wisdom is truly a beacon of possibilities that will help every child find peace, joy and health.
Aja is a fun-loving, joyful 12-year-old girl living in a small town in western Canada. She loves riding horses, being with friends, doing art, playing sports, enjoying music, reading books, and traveling the world.
Aja was inspired to write Three Grin Salad when she was living in Shanghai, China. Aja shares, “My teacher had the class write potions. I made a be mad potion….maybe it was because I didn’t like living in China. Once I got to our flat (apartment) I showed my mom the potion, she said that it would be fun to change the “be mad” recipe into a “be happy” recipe. Then we made it into a book about being healthy and happy.” Her parents, Dawn and Robert King, have been extraordinary role models as authors, entertainers and teachers themselves.
Aja’s profound recipe for her own life is, “I just try to be happy and be my own self. I think that people are happier when they are themselves, instead of comparing themselves to others. She feels the most important things for children to know are, “Do what you love to do, no matter what ANYONE thinks. People can always grow or get better at something, it doesn’t matter if you’re not perfect at something, no one is. Even if people are really good at something, but they still have things to learn. Another thing is just to have FUN!!!!!” I think kids just need to be happy, and if you eat healthy, get exercise, be yourself, and believe in yourself… you are probably going to find it easier to be happy.”
Aja’s innocent wisdom holds many truths not just for children but for ourselves as parents. Treat yourself and your kids to these delicious recipes for a happy, healthy life by visiting Aja online at http://www.ajaking.com
